Review: Benefit They're Real! Mascara

Email |

By adorebeauty06 · June 17, 2012

Do you know that Benefit in Singapore is highly overpriced? That is why i never really want to purchase anything from Benefit locally. However, i got the mascara online and it cost me US22 only! I've heard so much rave on how amazing this mascara works and how it became a HG for many youtubers. So i caved in and bought one wanting to try and see if it works on me too. So lets start with the product description shall we?

Product Description:

They're real! lengthens, curls, volumizes, lifts & separates. Our jet black, long-wearing formula won’t smudge or dry out. A specially designed brush reveals lashes you never knew you had!

What else you need to know:
94%
 saw dramatic length & volume*
90% saw base-to-tip curl*
94% saw visible lift*
100% saw long-wearing results*The wand is unique as it has a wide bristle with shorter bristles at the tip for under eye application. Its like mini combs. That is the unique part of the mascara.

My experience:

Firstly, I am going to talk about the mascara. There is no strong scent to it. Upon application, it seperates my lashes (As you can see below), and lengthens it. The wand makes applying mascara alot easier as i do not even need to wiggle it in a zig zag motion to coat my lashes with the mascara. It glides easily as i stroke it upwards and the formula stick on my lashes nicely. However when i apply it too near to my lash line, the wand hit and hurts my lash line (skin). It pokes and i felt the pain which makes my eyes shut immediately, in return having all the mascara smudges on my under eye. THAT is to be avoid at all cause. Do not apply it too close to your lash line. (lesson learnt.)

I like the pointy tip which has short bristles as it helps to apply lashes as close to my tear duct. You can see all my lashes were coated with mascara which does not happen that often. The mascara did not help me in curling my lashes as you can see. Its almost straight.
You can see here too. Minimal curl but it does lengthens and do not clump at all.

I may have owned the best mascaras in Asia, the Dollywink Mascara, Maybelline Falsies Mascara and Loreal 4D Architect Mascara. These mascaras hands down, works the same or even better than the Benefit They're Real. They provide length, volume(which i never mentioned on they're real) and curl. They are also much cheaper compared to SG Benefit mascara which is sold at $48 each. I just dont see the hype in this mascara. I can say Dollywink mascara is 10 times better and that is definitely my HG. But the sucky thing to it is that it bleeds. Benefit They're real mascara does not at all. At such a high price, i don't recommend my readers to buy as it might perform slightly above average for you.

My Ratings:

I wont repurchase.

Hey all! Been a while since i blogged. I kinda missed it but i was out of an inspiration on make up that i can clasify and talk about. However, i picked up something new recently, which is fitness. I wanted to get fit because i get tired easily and my knees dont seem to be able to take my weight when i took up the stairs. My work requires me to walk about 10 mins from the train station to the office. And by the time i reach office, i was tired. Which is not a good sign.  With the help of Marlene from MakeUpGeekTV, Mischevious and Shay Carl from Shayloss, i got myself in to the fitness regime. I have my own goals and I am hoping and manifesting it to come true by end of this year.

Let me know if you are interested about what my exercise regimes are and more! Questions? Ask me below :)

These are some pictures on my instagram that i shared on my journey. You can follow my instagram diane_06 for more updates! Everytime we think about fitness equipments, apparels or shoes, we think about BIG brands such as Nike, Adidas, Puma and more. But little did we know we can get quality stuff for much less! So i got these two sports bra at Robinson Expo sale last weekend. They cost $13 each. Which is a huge comparison to Nike sports bra which are $55 each! I know the quality prolly are better but who cares! Im working out in my room! So as long as my boobs dont bounce around like crazy pendulums, i am fine :) (haha!)

I also went to Queensway Shopping Centre with Adib yesterday. One of our favourite places to go. Get bargain products such as sports gear, shoes or bags. I got these aerobic weights. They are 1.5kg each and i got it for $22 per pair. I can then start toning my arms too. I really look forward to playing with these and wearing my sports bra too.

Well, where is the best place to get sports gear? Any reccomendations? Or maybe you have any tips on weight loss or stories that inspires you? Share it with me!

FOUND!: Sariayu "Moistpome" Lipsticks (Batam)

We were at batam over the weekends for a short mini getaway also "comemorating" (haha) our 7th Year Anniversary of being together. We had so much fun being in a tour heading to places like the factory outlet, massages, seafood lunch, temple visits and more. Our hotel happened to be located at the heart of the city which we adore. And across the road, is Nagoya hill Shopping mall. Whats to do when you are back at the hotel after 5pm? SHOPPING of course!Well to be honest, there is nothing to shop there. Alot of copy bags and clothes which look rather skimpy. Otherwise, I am all into cosmetic baby! So i checked out the departmental store, Matahari and there were brands such as Maybelline, Revlon, Loreal, Pixy, Ultima and more. I happened to come across Sariayu because the packaging raised my attention. As i was swatching it, i grew fonder. They were sold for rp27,000 each which is about $3.70 each. INSANE!!! now i start to regret the fact that i just bought 4. Anyways, here are the products.
They come in various colours. Almost 20 different shades. Sariayu also have eyeshadows which does not impress me, they have skincare line too. These are products made locally in Indonesia. So i thought why not give it a try! The packaging is GORGEOUS! And the photos will shows you how great they are.The graphics are truly creative givivng a traditional Javanese cum Batik influence to it. The dates were written as to when they were produced. So thats a good thing. Also expiry dates are on them: 0615 (June, 2015). Brilliant!Heres the swatch. They are called the Moistpome lipsticks.Made up of promegranate extract & mineral. These lipsticks are so soft and moisturising. I don't need to put a lipbalm before applying the lipsticks. It also consist of UV Protection and Vitamin E as an antioxidant. The colours are amazing. The pigmentation is beyond expectation, being soinexpensive. And being a local brand, these babies deserves 5 stars. Kudos Indonesia! How can i not end this raving post without a lip swatch. Heres how it looks!

So, if you go to Batam, head to the departmental store or any cosmetic shop and find Sariayu cosmetics. You will love them!

I got it at Nagoya Hill Shopping Mall, Matahari Departmental Store, Cosmetic Section, Sariayu brand.

Thanks for reading loveS! i will see you soon! Have a good week ahead!

This month, I am greeted by a nice recycling bag which holds all the products that BellaBox has in store for us! I like how i can definitely reuse this for my pads, or my htumbdrive or my make up or even onions in my kitchen! haha! Really! Anyway, heres the sneak peak!
When i loosen up the drawstring, i smell a nice fruity scent. It is the Essential Nuance Airy Shampoo and conditioner. Its the travel size hough. I owned the big shampoo and i loved the scent however i feel its alittle to dry for my hair. But nonetheless, these are amazing for my trip this weekend. Perfect! So whats really in the box? Here it is! Its very refreshing to see new products at my own reach. Example, Macadamia Natural Oil for al hair types. I have yet to try it though but I want to use this after i wash my hair and damp it dry. In the box, there are the followings:

-Elizabeth Arden ceramide gold ultra restorative capsules

- Enavose cellogist youth guard cream

- A sample of the candydoll powder foundation, liquid foundation and make up base

My Experiences:

My experiences with Bellabox. I am honoured and so thankful that i received these boxes from them even though I did not pay for the monthly subscription. Thank you Team Bellabox for sending me these items. I had so much fun. Every opportunity of opening the box is like opening my birthday present! Its full of goodies, items which i never thought were sold in stores. If you have yet to subscribe to Bellabox, do it because you want to try new products in the beauty industry, because you want to get great deals with your money and more! I say, its an investment!

Bellabox is also prompt in sending these parcels. And products came along with attractive vouchers from leading companies. However, it shall stop here. I want to be able to pay for something if it is to come to me on a monthly basis. I seek your understanding in this.

Thank you! xoxo!

Review: Sephora Oil Free Mattifying Foundation

Email |
|
By adorebeauty06 · May 27, 2012

Yes people! THE LONG AWAITED AND HIGHLY REQUESTED review ever. People kept asking me, when are you going to do the review? Do you think i should buy it? Is it really mattifying? Well honey(s)? I am going to asnwer those today! YES TODAY! I have captured photos to show you the products as I undertsnad not man bloggers talk about the brand from Sephora. Well I broke my virgin and bought my first Sephora foundation. I got this at orchard ION Sephora for $27 which is relatively cheaper than many *drugstores can offer in Singapore. Loreal. Revlon and even Maybelline foundation can hike up to $32.90 in price! Thats really insane. Sephora has more than a range of foundation of course, this is just one of it. They have mineral products, liquid foundations, tinted moisturisers and more. The compact is very clean and sleek. You can see your shade via the transparent packaging that it has. It contains 9g which is alot more than the drugstore foundations i have owned. I personaly chose this because i had become tanner ever since i came back form my last trip. At least 1-2 shades darker. However many foundation available at my heartland malls either does not have an extensive range of colours or has too many yellow tone on them that made me look very off. This foundation has at least 2 more darker shade than the one i got. The shade is have is MAT TAN, D35. It promises oil free and of course the magic work in the beauty industry "mattifying" totally got me.In the beginning, upon bringing it to the cashier, i shook the compact and felt as if the pan was loose in the inside. Little did i know it comes with a mirror at the back of the pan when you flip it and a black sponge too! It almost reminds me of the Maybeline True Match Powder which alot of people raved about.

Well enough talking about the product, here comes my experience.

First time i tried this powder, I used it alone after my sunscreen lotion, with the black sponge that was provided. The colour of the product matches my skintone so well that i literally had trouble finding it on my face (haha!). After applying, i do see minimal result if you can see on the above image. You can still see my spots and my lines. It practically look like i just powdermy face slightly. There is absolutely no coverage on my face. If you ask me, it is a sheer coverage. At the end of the day, it really looked like i wore nothing on my face in the first place.

So the next time I tried it, I thought, why not set this with a foundation. And i did! The first photo of this blog post, is the result of setting my liquid foundation (Maybelline Mineral Power Liquid Foundation in Honey) with the powder. It does gave me a flawless finish and my face mattifies alot. However if you ask me, it does not last too long. My face ended oily as usual at the end of the day since the weather is really hot and humid. But this goes to show the product does not work that well.

The following times, i apply it with a kabuki brush but to no avail as it does not give me a medium coverage that i wanted. Which is rather frustrating after a while. So what do i use this as now? Just a setting and touching up powder. I don't want this to go to waste. Neither do i want to use it as its own as i really look like i wore nothing.

So adorebeauty readers? Heres the rate.

My final rating for this product:

You can do without this. Really sad.

Sorry guys. I wanted to give you good review on it but it failed badly.

Any of their range that you loved and want me to find out? Share it down below!

Face of the day?- Nah not really!

This is my good friend named Charlene. She was at the workshop with me. Well I wanted to blog about something out of the make up stuffs. One of my colleague is a professional photographer. Top 10 photographer according to Nikon. So in the midst of cleaning his equipments, we asked him a mini favour to teach us how to actually use our DSLR. And we brought our camera to work and one day, after work, he taught us the magic of using a DSLR camera. This is my amateur tested photos. Haha..unfortunately, i have to take her face as a model. Phhrf! Haha it was a very fun class. From learning how to clean the camera, to using apperture and shutter. I like how he can teach us in laymen terms such as apperture, he explains it like a window theory. If it is in the day, you want to close the window because it gets hot and blaring. If it is at night, you want to open the window slightly for light to protrude in. Cool, so which means apperture increases at night and decreases in the day. Cool huh! These are the photos i took at the back of our office. Nice huh! no editting man! Coolness.  I grew fonder with my camera as time goes by.

Product shoot have always got me interested since i always take photo for beauty products to talk about on my blog. My inconsistency needs to be corrected from the photos on my blog. I need more pro photos if you know what i mean! haha! So i need a little more practise and i will be there! Thats for sure!

Anyway, i just wanted to share with you all what i have been true and pre-amping you for the good photos to come! well at least i hope so! haha! Do you own a DSLR? And if you do, any tips you would love to share?

Let me know pls!

* i am no advertising my colleague, Naz at any given situation. However if you need a professional photographer who is amazing at food shots, call me yeah~ haha! okok kidding2...

Review: Benefit Bella Bamba

By adorebeauty06 · May 20, 2012

I have heard alot of rave on this product. Its all about the box packaging which has blush in it. You can swirl in the cute boxes with your blush brush and it will stay put on your face and the yada yada goes... Youtubes raved on Benefit products and in Singapore, the product are way overpriced. So my colleagues and I ordered it through benefit.com and it even offers no tax payment and free international shipping. We spent about $542 so that explains. Anyway on to the product. I love the packaging. No doubt it is by far the cutest blush packaging there is in stores. The chromatic patterns and cute fonts used, it shouts feminine and all girly. I bought this online and have high hopes for it pretty much because i believed those raves. It is a watermelon kind of colour which is why i want to pick this up hoping it looked somewhat different from the coral and pink blushes that i owned. It came with a brush too with a wooden handle. The brush is really cute and has a good grip to it.  The product consist of 8.0g of product which is more than an average MAC blush has to offer. I also love that there is a mirror it in so applying blush can be made easy plus it looked super chic having to take it out of your bag and touch up your blush. Talk about unique! On my cheeks, it looked like this. I like that it gave me a healthy glow. It is almost pink tone on my cheeks but its a warm colour. I like how it apply nicely and blends well on my face.

HOWEVER (jeng jeng jeng jeeeenggg)....

My experiences:

Lets talk about the brush first shall we? I brought this blush to my trip at Jogja and thought you know, i dont need no blush brush cuz the product has one. But little did i realise, that the brush not only apply the product on my cheek, it is hard to see the colour on my cheek. I literally have to apply like about 5 times to see the colours on me. It is pigmented of course, but the brush did only a decent job. Other than that, I realise the gold shimmers settle under my eyes area. Maybe because i applied it on my cheeks and blend with my brush, but then it made the shimmer moves around too. Great! Just great. I looked semi-disco-ball. I did went back and tried with my normal blush brush and it worked. I do not need to use the brush that came with it. Sticking to traditional ways baby!

The blush has a nice scent to it. I like it. Its pleasant. No irritations on my skin. No breakouts since one of the ingredients is talc. The gold shimmer did came off like a glowing agent. It gives a nice sheen on my cheeks looking like i did highlight my face. I have a problem with the product's formula though. It just didnt last. At the end of the day, when I saw my colleagues who wore dandelion on her cheeks and told her that her blush was all gone, I realised mine was all gone too! And at that time it was rather depressing. The product does not last on my cheeks. To give a slight credit to it, it did appear near my "sideburn" area. Leftover residue. I am truly dissapointed. Can you imagine if I had paid $52 for this?

I did a swatch to compare with what i have in my drawers and they are as per below:

Mac Peachtwist- has more gold sheen to it. Gold shimmers.

Chanel Bronze Corail- very coral and matte. Gold shimmers.

Bella Bamba- more pink undertone to it. Gold shimmers.

Ripe Peach- Gold shimmers. Lighter than Chanel Matte.

Not one which can dupe the blush entirely because the shade of the blush is rather unique. I love the colour but the formula is below my expectation.

hmmm.. do you own one? And how do you feel about them?

Share it here ladies/ gentlemen?

Overall Ratings:I say, invest on other brands and you will find one which you wil love.

xoxo
