Review: ELF Kabuki Face Brush

By adorebeauty06 · January 24, 2012

I am not a fan of kabuki brush just because i find it inconvenient to dry and even to apply on the face. However, i do have one or two in my collection to use it from time to time. I do not use much powdered foundation on my daily routine, thats why the lack of enthusiast on kabuki brushes. I bought the elf kabuki brush just because i watched Emily Noel's Youtube video, which she did a review on this. She even compared this to the MUFE Kabuki. I knew i had to get it.As you can see from the top view, the brush is super dense. So far, upon washing theres no bristles that shed nor does the brush bleeds. Not bad coming from a brand like ELF. Through years Elf has made its name comparable with major brands. And this brush shows it well. It is super soft, and it picks up powder and blends easily too. After swirling it on my face, this brush allows me to see almost close to a flawless finish. However, i have had a tough time on removing the powder away from the white bristles.

Truly, i do love this powder and there is no reason for me not to.

I got this from smoochiezz.com for $12.

Adorebeauty TIPS: How I blot my face?

By adorebeauty06 · January 15, 2012

Most of us spotted oiliness on our face after a day of work under the air con in the office. And normally people would reach out for their oil blotting papers in their cosmetic pouch. They ranges from Gatsby, Clean & Clear, Elf, Kleenex and many more. Be it powdered and non powdered. Scent and unscented. While blotting does not prevent the oil, it lessens the shine. It is a temporary way of getting the oil off from the surface of your face.

However, if you do not want to shell out money for these blotting papers, simply take a ply of white tissue paper and it will do the trick!

So what did i do to remove the oil from my face and touch up?

Firstly I peel a ply off my 3-ply tissue paper and dab it on my face gently. Taking note that i never swipe it. As much as i want to remove the oil from my face, i want my foundation to stay the same. Not an inch movement or shifts. Under the eye area is crucial too. You dont want your concealer to be removed. So, what i do is i wraped that ply on my ring finger and dab it the dame way when i apply concealer.

After visually mattify my face with that tissue, i took out either my MAC Blot powder or my MAC MSF and swirl a touch of powder with my 187 stippling brush all over my face. This brush does not pick up too much powder. I would not want to top up too much powder on my face which could clog up my pores.

Right after that i apply blush and im off!!!

Thats how i touch up my face.

An adorebeauty advice: Do not touch up your concealer after powder. If you need to apply the concealer, apply it after blotting. Apply concealer THEN powder up!

Thats all for today!

Keep the oil at bay ladies!

xoxo

I have been using brushes on a daily basis. They are my everything because without them, i can never apply my make up properly. From faces to eyes to lips and more. If deodorant needs a brush, i would use it! YOU BET I WILL!

Anyway, i do own alot of brushes. Maybe not as much as many of other beauty gurus but this is my blog so only my brushes counts. haha! Anyway, i have a humble amount and i feel like i need more. Don't know why. I love brushes. I dont collect them i just tend to reach out for them when i see them in stores. My brushes came from various brands such as Mac, Sigma, Coastal Scents, Manicare and more.

These are my top picks! And i hope this helps you find your HG brush too!I have listed out their names as well just incase you want to reach out for them yourself.

Elf Studio Eyeshadow brush- Amazing for picking up shadows and packing on colour on my lids. This brush put even my Sephora eyeshadow brush to shame.

Manicare Eye Blending Brush- This is the first blending brush i raved and raved endlessly on my blog since day one when i started blogging. And till today i still love it and it works on so many people! Love love love it! I love it! Its as good or even better than the MAC 217 brush.

Coastal Scents Pink Brush- I wanted the Mac version of it but wen i came across this brush i knew i had to get it. Its pink. DUH! Plus the brush is so densely packed, its amazing how easy it picks up and pack on colours especially for my all over lid or highlight. The bristle is not rough either! No shed too!

MAC 217- If you want to blend your eyeshadow invest on this brush. A must have for ALL YOU MAKE UP LOVERS.

Coastal Scents Mini Blending Brush - I love this especially when I am doing blending in the crease for smaller lid friends or details blending. This brush does the trick. If you have a smaller eyes but you want to essentuate it more with a crease, this brush will help you.

My red house blush brush- My HG Blush brush. Although right now, after about 1 yr plus, it starts shedding, but its the softest blush brush i ever had. The size is just nice and its fluffy. Amazing for blush application. I want more of this brush.

Sigma F25- I love this for powder foundation. FULL STOP. Love.

MAC 190- I used to hate this brush but right not, it is a brush i cant live without. My foundation brush. (Must have?= Nah~)

Sigma F28- This brush give me coverage for any liquid foundation. Its easy to apply. Its like holding a fat eraser and erase your artwork. It is that smooth and easy to apply liquid foundation. Plus its more fun!

Any of my brushes that you share the love as well?

What I got from Sigma?

I joined Icefrost spree and i got these!

I was dying to try these NEW Sigma brushes like FOREVER! I want to know what people are raving about. Especially now that they have renamed their brushes. That is more like it SIGMA! Having your own originality to it. I have always wante to buy the dome kind of brush from MAC but never get to do it because of the price. So i thought, i would like to try Sigma.

I am very happy with my buys and i can't wait to use them!

I tried washing them yesterday and i came to realise, the powder brush sheds at least 4 bristles and it bleeds. The others shed like only 2 bristles but do not bleed. So heads up on that! Review to come form me soon!In case you are wondering, since many post of Sigma were sponsored by them. These brushes, were bought by my own money. I spent S$ 84.00 plus shipping with icefrostsprees.onsugar.com :)

Thank you Michelle for the wonderful sprees you held!

Product RAVE: I really love to blush!

Email |

By adorebeauty06 · April 26, 2010

I am really not sponsored, nor was i forced to do this in any circumstances. Eveyday i look forward to blush. I want to share this with you because initially i really wanted to get MAC 129 brush. Its cost $61 in store. UNTIL, I happened to be at Joey's House looking over her brushes at Myredhouse studio. And immediately after looking at the displayed brush, i bought it. I never regretted ever since. Its more than half the price lesser but this brush does wonders.

Maybe it does not have a wooden handle with a MAC brand engraved to it or a silver ferrel. But this brush has bristles that pamper my skin so well, i am in love with it again and again everyday every morning. I want to tell my readers, if you do want to consider getting a mac 129 brush, try this brush. You will not be dissapointed. On the website, it is rather small and hard to estimate/ judge the size. Once you wash the brush, it will POOF up! Which in return will disperse your blush nicely and the size of the bristles are huge to cove rmy cheeks!

Try it to believe it! Shedding is very minimal I used it for blush, bronzers, sometime POWDER TOO! Cuz, i just love how soft it is...LOVE IT LOVE IT! Worth every penny :)

Thanks for watching!

Love,

Diana
