Sephora Update -Ramblings alert!

Jun14

Do you know that MAKEUP FOREVER is instore at SEPHORA taka? Yes! I went last friday and the staff told me it was set up the night before! So, yeah I was super excited when i swatch it. Its crazy! I definitely will get the eye pencils..but yeah the prices are sooo EXPENSIVE!!! The HD foundation is $69! So are the primers. Not for me. I won't pay so much for it. And i remembered icyabstract once told me she dislike going to the face shop becaus ethe staffs keep tagging you when you are shopping around, which can be really annoying I swear SEPHORA IS THAT WAY TOO! And i was so pissed off. I could nmot swatch and have time on my own to study the products when every staff at every corner keeps coming to me with the product info or discounts or its good or where its from or...PLEASE STOP!!! LEAVE ME ALONE! So, enough of the ramblings. I have to add on that Sephora has been reorganized in terms of their product counters. The brushes are where the soaps are previously and I have to say there are better ranges of brushes sold!

'BUT! They are HIGHLY priced too! I was shocked. I thought that Sephora is another AMERICAN-sasa like store. And that the store brand prices should be reasonable. But, nope, even the Sephora brand itself are expensive, I can't imagine if they bring in urban decay and nars. It might cost A BOMB! Urgh..everything here in Singapore is expensive. Im moving to US TMRW!!! Do you think Sephora should reduce their price to create a convenient cosmetic store or do you think t hey should stay the way they are to create standards of a higher-end make up?

Darling, if you need anything from Sephora, tell me. Got discount. *winks*

Hehe I don't mind them tagging me actually, I prefer to be serviced. If you walk over to the MAC at Taka, that one the service super poor, they don't service you and some of the MAs pick their customers to serve-sort of look down on you sometimes I feel so nowadays I shop at the vivo one. Anyway I think sephora in the US also quite ex, that stippling brush in the US is $35 so if convert to SGD also $52 but $59 still cheaper than the MAC 187.

Heavenlygorgeous: How much discount?

i refuse to enter any shop if there are no customers around coz i dun like the assistants to follow me around. i like to have my own space and time to browse through the items in the store. besides..i get easily influence... i might end up buying MANY ITEMS AT ONE TIME! =p

For Sephora brand is 35% off. For those other brands that they brought in, i'm not too sure. =)

By the way, i don't like Sales Assistants to tag me around the shop too. But me being me with the laser mouth, i just tell this to them: "Excuse me, i know my way around. So please stop following me as if i'm going to steal the stuffs." And then gave a pissed off looked to them. So far, it works. =)

MaddyMadeline: Not for me. To each his own. For make up, i prefer to have my own time, think when to use it, with what outfit and what occasion and do i need them or are they good for my collection±..all that needed to b e analyze. and if i have somebody who is always bugging me, I GET PISSED OFF! ahah So anyway, yeah alot of my friends claims that TAKA has the worst service ever. I went there once and then till now i stick to TANGS MAC cuz of my rebates! haha!

Oh yes, Dianalove! I agree with you! I prefer to go M.A.C at Vivo too. Love the atmosphere there. The place isn't that crowded with people too. And Lisa (the MUA) is the one who always have to entertain with my crappy questions. I didn't buy also she happy-happy entertain me. No offence but i think the Malay MUA(s) there are kind of lazy to entertain me. Because they take one look at me and gave me the 'i-don't-think-she's-buying' look. What the hell. Just because i don't have M.A.C written on my damn forehead, i can't afford to buy M.A.C products is it? Seriously, i'm damn pissed off.

hehe, i have no MAC store preference as i only shopped at the one at vivo and Taka. Twice at vivo both good experience. Twice at Taka, once the SA was really nice, it's a she. 2nd time, a male SA, give me the 'heck care' look. I am guessing its the SAs that make the difference.

Sun, 06/14/2009 - 6:20pm

haha I went to Sephora before and yes this one SA kept following me and my bestie around! I just asked her a question and that's it, i went off to another section to look at some other brands and she kept following and looking at me and I HATE IT! I'll have this uneasy feeling that when SAs or MUAs look at you they'll expect you to buy something. grr.
haha never even went to mac before. okay well, i went to taka once, and looked around, the MUAs looked at me as if MAC isn't for juveniles or something. pfffft!!! geramz!

heavenlygorgeous: Malay MUA huh..ahahah i guess in general yes bu vivo's malay mua are nice too. That is if you approach them. But I don't have a problem with that. I don't have any problem with any muas even at taka because usually i go in only when i wanna get something. Otherwise, i won't browse and go...ahahah Lisa sounda nice huh dear?

i was at Sephora yesterday and i saw the MUFE display thinking, "this one was here before meh?". now i know it's new thanks to you. Smiling

and yes, i hate them tagging along too! usually my face is quite "stuck-up" on first impression, as what my friends told me so i put it to use and usually just give them "i'm-queen-don't-talk-to-me-when-i-don't-ask-" look and they usually stay away. like magic! LOL!

Was nice seeing u on friday, doll Smiling and i went sephora after the mac sale too! haha but i rather go MUFE @ Stamford house cuz the membership discount applies there rather than at Sephora

Once at Sephora, when the first person asked me if I needed any help, I jokingly said "oh I know my makeup! I can practically work here!" That person ended up being the assistant store director, who promptly handed me an application for their x-mas season, and had the store director come over and talk to me. I was hired, but then the store's business went really down, so I had the discount, but I didn't get to work. After that, every time I go in to work, everyone says hi to me. Some know me as 1 of the seasonal hires that's just not working, while others thought I was a really good customer that everyone just happened to know!

But yes, Sephora brand brushes are certainly not cheap, but they are cheaper than MAC and of similar quality. Plus sometimes I hate the numbering system of MAC brushes. =P

i prefer the staff leaving me alone but they must be able to give me good information, which is usually not the case, cos i usually have read about stuff i wanna buy and what they tell me is nothing new.

i wish sephora will bring in nars and urban decay.
i think i wanna buy the #92 eyeshadow from mufe. it is like THE purple eyeshadow. but have you all checked out the mufe store at stamford house? they have the whole range of brushes and stage make up supplies in addition to the regular stuff. very interesting.

I don't any problems with MAC's MUA. They all treats me really good.. so far all happy and good experiences.

Sometimes I just look at the SAs and tell them that I run a beauty blog, so I know what I want. Or I just engage in convos with them, talking about how great so and so is. =D

The Sephora brushes are really quite ex! Like you i was expecting them to be cheaper, like much cheaper haha. ): Oh well. I guess you get what you pay for? I actually prefer their Proffesionel Line, (the silver handle white bristles) face brushes to the MAC face brushes (OMG right over mac!) cos the goat hair is softer. I dunno sometimes i look at the black bristles on the MAC brushes and they seem quite cheapo to me. ): But white goat hair looks really pretty XD

But i bought a brush today from The Body Shop that like bam reminded me of the 217. 20 bucks too! Worth it (: But not as fluffy. That's the problem harder to blend. But colour pickup quite good (: I am trying to source for cheaper alternatives. The Body Shop face&body brush is not bad too. Good product pick up, amazingly superduperly soft. ^^

(sorry for the random comment btw I was reading your blog for a few pages then for some reason my comp switched back to the home page and yea. -.- Felt like commenting, so HIII XD )
